'You can't survive in this economy as a (Fashion) designer unless you know what's happening in the marketplace,' says McClatchy. 'At a time when people are losing their homes, even a fashion designer has to be aware of the importance of giving people what they want and what they are willing to pay for.'
Translation: 'Expect to see more hats, signature necklaces and other accessories on the runway that can change the look of an outfit, allowing shoppers to still invest in new fashion but not necessarily have to buy into a whole new look.'
'far as actual fashions, other then the 'bohemian look' -- 2008 is being called the --'less-is-more trend, nude-colored apparel and sheer fabrics are expected to be big hits both this season and next,' suggests Forbes Magazine.
The big talking points for fashion execs -- 'Outside the very affluent, consumers are more thoughtful about purchases...'
'The aesthetics are clean and not about ornaments,' says Michelle Ochs, (Ochs designs). 'It doesn't get any cleaner than a naked body. That's as raw as it gets.'
'This fall and spring, there are a variety of peek-a-boo items and nude-toned pieces available for men and women, such as transparent blouses, sheer sleeves and cut-out dresses from designers Vera Wang, Chris Benz and Bottega Veneta.'
'Nude is a nice alternative to stark white," says one fashion exec, 'and more fashion-forward than boring beige.'
