Doesn't emotionally intelligent critical thinking sound pretty good right now?

The weekends' chat-shows had this rich-dude calling-out the importance of 'critical thinking' in our recent financial crises.

In a nutshell, Critical thinkers reflect-and-replace things-that-go-wrong with-stuff-that-actually-works...'got me screaming where-you-been-hiding all-my-life.

Also begs the question -- 'how can we apply lessons-learned here to avoid another messy-time from happening again?

'Brings me to this article by Kimberly Wickham: 'Philosophy as the Missing Link – An Eye-Opening Audit of Our School’s Curriculum.'

I remember studying Philosophy back in college -- (which is the study of general problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, truth, beauty, justice, validity, mind, and language) -- and felt my brain hurting, but in a good way...

'I am not suggesting that the history of philosophy would be particularly pertinent for a young child to learn, but there is substantial evidence to support the development of an already natural tendency towards philosophical thought,' says Wickham.

Adding -- 'developing this skill has shown long term positive effects. These effects range from developing critical thinking skills and cognitive ability to raising emotional maturity and encouraging the child’s sense of security within his or her world.

It's one of those things that make you go hmmm, why isn't the educational systems already doing this?

And doesn't proper security and emotionally-intelligent-critical-thinking sound pretty good right about now?

Yeah, it kinda does...

'so does this happy Jason Mraz tune:
